Facilitation with purpose

Many voices.
One way forward.

Chas Lamont · Facilitator & Executive Coach

I run the rooms where people arrive with different visions, different histories and different ideas of what the thing is even for — and leave with a result they actually own.

About

Most rooms I work in are full of people who are all there for different reasons. Different visions, different histories, different ideas of what the thing is even for.

The job depends on the room. Sometimes the purpose itself is contested, and the work is getting underneath the disagreement to why the thing exists, then building the way forward from there. Sometimes the aim is clear and shared, and the job is different: structure, pace, and making sure the knowledge already sitting in the room actually moves around it.

Either way, the outcome is the same. Not false agreement, and not a nice day out: a result the group actually owns.

I’m an accredited facilitator and executive coach working across commercial, public-sector, charity and institutional settings, including senior change leadership in a large national institution, where the conversations are as contested as they come.

Charlie was a great facilitator. He was professional, engaged and thoughtful throughout, and I learned a good deal from him about the art of facilitation. We would happily work with Charlie again.

What I do

Peer-Learning & Best-Practice Days

Rooms of 30 to 100 where the expertise is already in the seats. Structured so people leave with what the person three tables away already knew.

Vision & Strategy Days

Helping a business, organisation, charity or team step back, get to why the thing exists, and leave with clarity on what comes next.

Round Tables & Facilitated Conversations

Competing interests, one agenda. Chaired so every voice lands and the output survives contact with Monday morning.

Team Away Days & Group Facilitation

Guiding teams, boards and committees through change, conflict or high-stakes decisions, so relationships and outcomes both hold.

Training & Adult Learning

Workshops and courses, drawing on experience training leaders from first-timers to established institutions.

Recent rooms

  • Designed and deliver a 17-module facilitator training programme for an international leadership-development network
  • Community conversations for local decision-making, commissioned and delivered
  • Vision and strategy days for boards, leadership teams and charities
  • Shortlisted by a major research council for multi-stakeholder round-table facilitation

How I work

Radical presence
Listening hard enough to catch what isn’t being said. “Voices heard” as a reality, not a tagline.
Relational agility
Translating between a boardroom and a shop floor without losing either.
Dynamic communication
By 2.30pm most away days are dead. Keeping a room alive at 2.30 is most of the job.

What happens when you get in touch

  1. A reply within one working day.
  2. A short call, free: what the room is, who’s in it, and what needs to be different by the end of the day.
  3. A session designed for your room: a sure-footed agenda, flexible in the moment.
  4. Afterwards, a capture of what was said and decided, so nothing is lost once everyone is back at their desks.
